Lima Optional Itinerary
June 20: Home – Lima
Enjoy the flight and sweet anticipation! Upon arrival in Lima, a Spirits of the Earth representative will be greeting you at the airport and escorting you to your hotel. Welcome to Peru!
June 21: Lima
Cathedral, the Archbishop’s Palace and City Hall. Afterwards we will visit the Gold Museum. Peruvian people used to work the metal in a spectacular way; the procedure was called “cire perdue” (lost wax), which was well known in the East but it disappeared in the West in the Renaissance era. This procedure was the most commonly used by the Peruvian goldsmiths. More than 400 years ago, the Spanish conqueror (“conquistador”) Francisco Pizarro named Lima the City of the Kings (“Ciudad de los Reyes”). Today, that same city, which rose from the lands of the native chief Taulischusco, is a city of over 9 million people who proudly preserve the colonial convents and mansions which are symbols of their ancient and noble traditions.
After breakfast our Lima exploration will begin at the historical Plaza de Armas, home of Government’s Palace, the Cathedral, the Archbishop’s Palace and City Hall.
Our excursion to the Gold Museum can allow us to appreciate an excellent collection of gold pieces from different Peruvian Cultures; some of these pieces are more than 3000 years old. In this museum you will see valuable objects and jewelry of great worth, which where worked in gold, silver and with stunning types of stones. This jewelry was used by the most important people of the Inca’s time, who were the son of the Sun and monarchs of this Empire.
After the guided tour, return to the hotel for a free evening. You can relax or enjoy more activities, like exploring some shopping in Lima. Sweet Dreams!
June 22: Lima – Cusco
Those who joined the Lima optional and those who choose an overnight flight to Lima meet today at Lima airport, and together fly to Cusco.
An early morning departure from Lima finds us greeting Cusco—the Holy City, capital of the Incan Empire. After a warm welcome and greetings from the Spirits of the Earth local team we will be transfer to our hotel.
Cusco – Navel of the Earth – according to the Incas, is a warm and lovely city. The memories of its ancient inhabitants are still alive.
The Incas developed an advanced awareness of energy and the knowledge of how to utilize each vibration for growth and transformation. Each temple was built at a specific point of power and are in direct alignment with each other and the Star, as above so below.
Afternoon rest to acclimate ourselves to the elevation (11.000 ft) and to this timeless place where other dimensions open quickly and easily. In the late afternoon, we will have a group gathering to experience a closer connection with each other so together we can pray our intentions for this journey. Sweet Dreams!
June 23: Cusco - Tipon
In the morning we will travel outside of Cusco city to the spectacular water temple of Tipon.
Tipon is an ancient agricultural site with many terraces and an intricate irrigation system. The entire complex is fed by an artisan spring that emanates at the base of the sacred mountain Pachatusan. The energy at Tipon is soft and gentle, a perfect site for us to open our spiritual journey with an ancient ceremony.
As we gather in circle, Vera Lopez will speak about the Inca Prophecy and why Peru is considered by many sages of today the birth place of the New Earth. While our dear Paqo--High Priest of the Q’ero Nation— prepares our first despacho.
The Q’ero people have lived for centuries in villages at 18,000 feet of elevation, and were thought to have disappeared until they descended from the mountains in the 1950s to share their wisdom and their prophecies with all people. They are known as weavers of the Light, they weave 5th dimensional symbols into their manta cloths, which emanate light and living energy. Their cloths have the same symbols woven into them as those of the ancient Inca. Their language is considered to be over 20,000 years old, and is believed to have seeded ancient Hebrew and Sanskrit, which are the languages of many of our holy texts. They are one of the few civilizations on Earth that still hold their ancient teachings and ancient codes intact, as they have not been influenced or invaded by other cultures. Their history, which has been handed down from generation to generation perhaps for thousands of years, states that they are of the same lineage as the ancient Mayans, Hopi, Navajo, and Tibetans, and their language and rituals share many similarities.
A Despacho ceremony is an interactive ceremony where all involved build together (unity consciousness) a living mandala using elements gathered from our local environment to offer our prayers and intentions to Spirit. These offerings are put together in a way that energetically weave the three worlds of existence, Hanan Pacha or upper world, Kay Pacha or middle world and Uku Pacha or lower world by balancing the Divine Feminine and Masculine. Our initiation into the Incan Tradition has begun.
Back to our hotel and Free evening to enjoy Cusco and all the local festivities. Sweet dreams!
June 24: Cusco - Inti - Raymi
“Inti Raymi” or Inca Sun Fest, was the most important religious ceremony of the Inca Empire in honor of the Sun God (INTI-SUN), “Inti Raymi” is celebrated in the shortest day of the year in terms of the time between sunrise and sunset (Winter Solstice). At “Inti Raymi” the Incas, the priests and all the people pay homage to the Sun God.
The Inti Raymi or Feast of the Sun was the most important feast in time of the Incas. It was celebrated every shortest day of the year with occasion of the beginning of the year, which we considered now the winter solstice. The religious importance, festival ceremonial, social and politics were such that the party was extended in the whole Tahuantisuyo.
After the Spanish conquest in 1532, the Catholic Church suppressed the ceremony and the Andean society that used to celebrate this festivity to the sun which was dismembered, since that the celebration of the Catholic Saint San James. The “Inti Raymi” was forgotten then, until half of the XX century when, as expression of a great movement of revaluation of the native culture in Peru, was returned to the scene. In 1944 a group of intellectuals and artists from Cusco headed by Cusco Historian Humberto Vidal Unda decided to recover the Inti Raymi of the History and to present it as a show of theatrical type, dedicated to the whole population of Cusco; From then on, it has been represented every year, getting rich and evolving for the historical investigation.
SETTINGS FOR THE INTI RAYMI CEREMONY:
The celebration of the “Inti Raymi” on June 24th, in honor of the Sun God, is made in the three historic and natural sceneries:
1. The “QORIKANCHA” or the temple of the Sun of the Incas; here the celebration begins at 9:00am and last for 45 minutes.
2. The “Plaza de Armas”, “HAUQAYPATA” or the main square; in the time of the Incas this vast square was used for important ceremonies, which took place entirely in the great “ushnu” or ceremonial platform. The ceremony here begins at 11:00 and ends one hour later.
3. “SAQSAYWAMAN”- it’s located at 2 kms from the city of Cusco. The name is in the ancient language used by the Incas (Qechua) which translated into Spanish means (falcon).
Program of the Sacsaywaman´s scene: • Ceremonial arrival • Announcement of the 4 “Suyus” (or the four cardinal points): Qollasuyu, Kuntisuyu, Antisuyu and Chinchaysuyu • Chicha Ritual • Sacred Fire Ritual • Lama sacrifice and a sign reading (no worries, there is not any lama killed in fact nowadays) • Sankhu (sacred bread) Reading • Q'ochurikuy (burst of popular exaltation) • “Q’ochurikuy” (Dances and music from all Peru)
June 25: Cusco - Sacred Valley of the Incas - Moray
After breakfast we will travel by bus through the Sacred Valley of the Incas to our retreat hotel and wellness SPA.
In our way town to the Valley we will stop at the magical site – Moray – known as the Mother’s Womb where we will have some quality time exploring and connecting to this sweet and yet powerful energy vortex.
We continue our travels to the beautiful Urubamba city where a delicious Peruvian lunch will be awaiting for us.
After arriving in our hotel and checking in, we gather in circle in our own private Moray site. Our Paqo will be leading a ceremony to bless us with an ancient transmission of energy, a rites of passage called Llankay Karpay.
A Karpay transmission is where a Paqo (Incan Priest) intercedes on our behalf by invoking the Elemental Beings to assist us in the shift from the human beings we are to the luminous beings we are all becoming. By planting an intentional Luminous seed that literally infuses itself into our DNA, this seed, once given to us by them and fed by us, will grow in our energetic fields and is there to assist us in that transformation process. The Q’ero Karpay assist us by expediting this process exponentially. All who received the gift of their transmissions are instantly initiated Paqos of this ancient lineage and become themselves ambassadors of the Earth.
The Q’ero “medicine” is intentional. The transmissions you will receive from the medicine man/paqo is much like an attunement of powerful; the process carries an amazing energetic intensity and needs your focus with all the clarity you can offer it to maximize the results of each transmission. After the Karpay you will be considered by them an ambassador, going home with tools to use in your lives and to help others in their own awakening journey.
Llankay can be roughly translated as “work” or “service” towards all living creations and the universe (cosmos, “source”, Creator, etc). It is a state of consciousness where each individual’s soul purpose, or path in life, is in service to their fellow human being as well as the cosmos. Everything that we “do” is in ultimate service to the Divine.
Llankay is an explanation that we are all one part of a bigger picture and that each part is inherently dependent on the other. Every thought, word, and deed affects everyone and everything in this experience of life so much so that it would be wise to live consequently and with integrity and without fear. Llankay allows us to express our creativity through our work and can also be thought to symbolize the power of the physical body, or our animal selves. Its energy resides in the physical body below the ribcage to the groin and coincides with the first three chakras. With Llankay, we know that we are not alone. The lesson of Llankay is “We are all Connected.”
June 26:Ollantaytambo – Ayni
We start our day early, stopping at a holy site, where few tourists get to go. There, we will receive the Munay Karpay. If there is an English word to describe Munay, the closest would be “love”, yet Munay is more of a consciousness of acceptance and appreciation for all creation and all that is. It is more in line with a universal and unconditional love.
Munay understands that we are all different in that we will have different opinions and may be on different paths in our lifetime and that it is okay since paradoxically we are all similar in that we are spiritual beings having a physical experience. The area in our physical body where the energy of Munay rests is around the Heart chakra (4th energy center around the physical heart). Like the Heart chakra, Munay bridges our Lower selves with our Higher Selves and it is the center that holds us together. The practice of Munay focuses on the positive and let’s go of the heavy energy such as anger and resentment which tend to “weigh a person down”. The lesson of Munay is “We are One.”
We then travel through the Sacred Valley to the ancient town of Ollantaytambo. Ollantaytambo, prior to the Incas, was known as a Lemurian Temple of Love, today also called Temple of the Sun. Here we will experience a profound energy that is somehow connected to six enormous pink stones that were mysteriously transported to this place.
After lunch we travel to a village close by to visit the blessed children that will sing and dance and welcome us with flowers and smiles of gratitude. We are coming to visit and share our love and gifts with them. We will be living/delivering the law of Ayni.
Ayni is the Andean concept of ‘reciprocity’, which provides the foundation for how the Andean people relate to each other, as well as how they relate to Nature (they don’t see themselves as being separate from Nature).
In Ayni you don’t give or receive something without reciprocity. So as we come to offer our talents, treasure and time, we will leave with unlimited blessings. Each year our
groups offers something unique and special to the children and Natives of a remote village and on this day you will have an opportunity to touch someone’s heart in a way you never thought would be possible. Many consider this experience the highlight of their trip.
After returning to our hotel, we will have free time to enjoy our retreat facilities. You may choose a special Andean SPA treatment or have time alone to meditate and connect with the powerful mountains that surround our retreat center.
June 27: Pisac
We gather for our final Karpay. When Llankay and Munay are in proper balance and relationship, it allows one to manifest the third Inca law of Yachay. Yachay translates as “wisdom” and is more of an inner knowing and higher consciousness of our “authentic”, or true, selves. It understands that we are not our egos and are much more.
Yachay allows us to release our identity with the several roles we play in life which have the tendency to bind us down and prevent us from “remembering” who we truly are. Yachay enables us to reach a state of inner peace and joy regardless of the strife and turmoil occurring externally. It is a state of stillness and presence. Meditation is a key practice that can lead to a state of Yachay. The energy of Yachay resides around our fifth, sixth, and seventh chakras, centering around the forehead between the eyebrows (the “Third Eye” area). Yachay is all about living in the present. The lesson of Yachay is “All is Well.”
After this initiation we travel to the town of Pisac to experience the ancient site also call Pisac, also know as the Wira (god of wind) Home. We complete this day exploring the Traditional Indian Market.
End of the day return to our hotel. Retire early and prepare your heart for the next magical days. Sweet anticipation!
June 28: Sacred Valley – Machu Picchu
In the early morning we will board a train to Machu Picchu. The breathtaking view of the Urubamba Valley, where time stands still, will be a special preparation for our arrival in the Sacred Crystal City, known as one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
After we check into our hotels in the Aguas Calientes village and have lunch, we take the local bus up to the mountain and 30 minutes later we will be experiencing one of the most special moments of our journey, a moment many of us have dreamed of for along time, and now it has finally come true.
Machu Picchu was a University where knowledgeable women practiced daily spirituality. Before entering Machu Picchu we will ask permission of Machu Picchu’s spiritual guides to allow us to enter its sacred walls. After a sunset meditation at Intihuatana, the highest point of Machu Picchu, we take the last bus down to the village where you can enjoy a lovely dinner together. Sweet Dreams!
June 29: Machu Picchu Sunrise
